Photography Courses & Training Photography Courses & Training
I offer 1 to 1 training and a short half day course in photography for small groups in camera craft. The course can be taken as part of a small group or as a 1 to 1 session. Introduction to Photography CourseThis 3 hour practical course is aimed at beginners to intermediate photographers who wish to further their understanding of the fundamentals so that they can take control of their camera and take better photographs. The course will take place in local parks over the spring, summer and autumn months. The aim of this course is to teach you the building blocks of photography so you can understand how to take control of your camera's settings and understand what each is for. By combining the knowledge learnt the student should at the end of the course understand the principles required to take control of their cameras and create an image to a desired effect, rather than simply accepting what the camera chooses to produce. This course is aimed at picture taking and making at the point of capture and is suitable for amateurs and those seeking to make a career from photography including 'A' Level and degree students. This is a highly practical course and will help to develop the day to skills required to capture great photographs. You will not learn centuries old darkroom techniques that are no longer used in the photographic industry or the language and artistic interpretation as taught by the colleges and universities. You also will not learn the post production techniques that the photography magazines emphasise, however, you will learn how to become a better photographer and take control of your camera. The course will cover: Proper hand holding technique Lens changing procedures Incident vs reflective metering. Reflective Metering modes, evaluative, centre weighted and spot metering. Understanding Exposure (yes, it is different to metering!) Taking control with aperture & shutter priority plus manual modes of exposure. Understanding Depth of Field Controlling depth of field. Principles of Focussing Taking control of auto focus. Using fill flash. Basic Composition Group course costs £70 each, minimum of 2 students, maximum of 5. 1 to 1 training £90 for 3 hour course. Students will require their own camera, at least one lens and ideally a seperate flashgun, however a flashgun is not necessary. Additionally students should have a good understanding of the different buttons and controls on their camera. With so many brands and models to choose from, I can only teach you the techiques, not how to control you individual models. 1 to 1 TrainingI can also provide 1 to 1 tuition in a number of areas including general photography, taking better family photographs, portraiture and landscape. Tuition is charged at £30 per hour. |
