Bush Hotel, Wedding Venue ReviewBush HotelThe Borough Farnham Surrey
All wedding venue reviews are completely independent by Brian Parkes LSWPP, a specialist wedding photographer covering Surrey, Berkshire and Surrey. The Bush Hotel has an unusually large garden for an urban hotel and while not the grandest venue in the area it does tick all of the boxes I am looking for as a wedding photographer. The Bush hotel is situated right in the heart of Farnham, if you are to be married elsewhere and have your reception alone her traffic should be allowed for in your timings as this can be a very busy part of Farnham and traffic can be quite heavy there. This becomes less of an issue if your whole wedding is to be held here, particularly if you are also getting ready there. The grounds in the hotel consist of a long lawn, a path through some mature trees and off to the right a couple of mature tree's and bushes. While not overly large, this is all that is really required for wedding photographs with open areas, shade and a couple of different backdrops available. It's actually quite a nice space to shoot in. What is a real bonus is that this venue has a separate building used for the evening reception which provides a huge space in which group photographs can be taken in the even or poor weather. Inside the bar, it is a little dark, but still practical to shoot informal and casual images in. The service room is also quite dark, but there are also a couple of technical issues here to be aware of. The first is that somebody has decided the back wall directly behind the table where you stand for your service is a good place for a mirror, it really isn't, as photographing from the rear of the room to get that classic 'bride and groom at the alter' shot it's almost impossible to avoid catching myself reflected in the mirror! One solution to this is to shoot from the front. The room where the wedding breakfast is held is a decent room which doesn't throw up any major technical difficulties and is pleasant enough. On the whole while The Bush Hotel isn't the grandest venue, it is a perfectly decent one. Photographically it has a few issues which could trip somebody up who wasn't prepared for them, but it also has some unexpected bonus features such as an above average garden for a town based venue and a large space indoors suitable for photography in the event of wet weather. |
