Warbrook House, Wedding Venue Review
Warbrook HouseThe Street Eversley Hampshire RG27 0PL
Warbrook House is one of my all time favourite wedding venues and is a good 'all rounder' venue having something to offer in all seasons with suitable areas to photograph indoors in the event of wet weather and varied and beautiful grounds when the sun is shining. The first striking feature of Warbrook House is the long drive which immediately tells all visiting that this is a special and rather grand location. To the front of the hotel there are landscaped lawns with mature tree's, these are very useful for providing shade in very sunny conditions when I need to lower contrast on the brides dress and keep the couple and guests cool. Nearer to the hotel there is a large gravelled area which is very useful as it does not get muddy or too soft underfoot following wet weather is surrounded by interesting brickwork which can be used as a backdrop. Steps leading up to the hotel make a handy stage for groups and for larger groups a window overlooking the area and accessible from top of the stairs allows an aerial shot down onto a large group shot of everybody. Walking left around to the side of the hotel there are some evergreens which turn a lovely golden Red colour in winter and make a wonderful and very beautiful backdrop. Continuing around a landscaped area provides the opportunity to bring strong geometric shapes into the composition and is planted with seasonal flowers making for a very attractive setting for a photograph. Continuing around to the rear of the hotel there is a large expanse of lawn leading to a water feature. The hotel is quite impressive from the lawn looking back at the hotel, and there are also some lovely willows which make a nice backdrop as you turn left coming out of the rear entrance of the hotel. Indoors the venue is light and airy, the room at the rear of the hotel often used for a drinks reception is suitable for shooting groups in bad weather providing adequate space can be cleared with the number of guests at your wedding. The interior decoration of the hotel does not give any technical lighting issues, bar one small issue which is if the hotel choose to place the top table under the central support in the banqueting room, this support juts out a little and can cause light bounced off the ceiling be uneven. This is easily resolved by ensuring the table is to one side of this support. |
