Welling Arms Hotel, Wedding Venue ReviewWellington Arms HotelStratford Turgis Hook Hamsphire RG27 0AS
The wellington Arms Hotel is a more modern Red Brick hotel set in it's own large private garden, a great venue for a wedding of medium size. To the rear of the hotel is a pleasant garden where guests can mill around having a drink in good weather. Turning right you can follow the hotel around to a large lawn area surrounded by a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees, the latter should give a pleasant background all year through, remaining Green long after the deciduous tree's have lost their leaves. This is a great area for smaller groups and posed shots of the bride and groom. Continuing around toward the front of the hotel there is a small lightly wooded area which provides a variety of backdrops, creates some natural pools of light and plenty of shade to keep guests cool and lower the contrast to preserve fine highlight detail in the brides dress if need be. It may be a little difficult for elderly or disabled guests to get to, but there are plenty of areas immediately to the rear of the hotel for this not to be a problem. Inside the bar their are large windows letting plenty of light and this room is very pleasant and ideally suited for photography. The banqueting room is quite intimate and very easy to work in with no technical complications from decoration or lighting. I have not shot a wet wedding at this venue and so it is important to discuss what space would be available to you in the event you had to shoot your groups indoors. I suspect that the bar would be made available and this is a suitable space if so. In summary this is a nice light venue with decent grounds and to make the best of what this venue has to offer you would really like a nice sunny day. That said the interior is light and pleasant and has a lovely relaxed feel about it.
