 Wedding Photographer Abroad

Many couples from the UK are now choosing to get married abroad and with White sand and sunshine it's easy to see why! Destinations in the Mediterranean such as Nissi Beach in Cyprus, Malta and Caribbean destinations such as Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda and St Lucia are becoming increasingly popular.

The one thing most couples seem a little apprehensive about is their wedding photographer abroad.

It's a simple fact that photographers abroad have very different tastes, both in their actual photography and album design. On top of this there can be language and communication problems, not to mention the odd rogue trader and the fact that you are not covered by the UK's consumer protection law.

For couples getting married abroad I offer two services, album design and wedding photography at their overseas wedding destination.

Album Design

If your wedding photographer abroad is simply providing you with all of the images on CD I can design a high quality album for you. 

Please note I can only design and produce your album for you if you have rights to reproduce your images. You must have this in writing from your photographer.

Costs are typically around £600 for the design and production of a high quality graphistudio or Sim2000 book style album.

Wedding Photography Abroad

I can cover most countries and do not require any work permits or visas for any country inside the EU. For example I can travel to Cyprus, Greece, Spain or Portugal with relatively short notice, countries outside the EU may require a little more notice.

For weddings abroad I charge my standard wedding package prices, plus £150 to cover travel time and subsistence expenses.

You are also responsible for booking flights, accommodation and transfers. However even with the additional expenses I know I often still work out cheaper or comparable with local English speaking photographers, who often charge UK customers double what they charge the locals!

These expenses can work out cheaper than you may think, for example flights to Larnaca, transfer to Nissi Beach and accomodation for two nights would cost around £365 in May. 

There are a number of practical considerations to take into account when covering a wedding abroad.

• Ideally I should arrive around 24 hours before service is due to start to allow for delays, for me to unpack and familiarise myself with the area.

• I won't have a car, so I must be staying either at or within 5 minutes walk of the wedding venue. It's usually hot, so walking with gear much further is impractical.

• I have a expensive gear with me, so accommodation needs to be relatively secure with solid walls and a locking door. I don't need a 5 start hotel, the same venue your guests are staying at should be fine.

• My departure shouldn't be planned until at least the day after the wedding, weddings often run late and the last thing you need is me having to run off before the end to catch my flight!

Other than that hiring me to travel and cover your wedding abroad is relatively straight forward and simple. All money transactions take place in the UK, your are protected by UK consumer protection and as I'm based in the UK it makes communication easier and takes a lot of worry out of the process.
